Three of Oude Molen’s Civil technology learners (Tyler James, Imaad Kamaldien, Kwatonda Patric) competed in a bridge building competition on Saturday 07th May.
These boys surly made Oude Molen and me (Ms October) extremely proud. This was the first time the boys experienced this competition and had no idea what to expect yet they handled themselves with so much poise.
The boys spent the whole day in Canal Walk (8am -18:00pm) doing this competition. They were given a brief that morning, so everything could only be designed after they were given their restrictions and criteria.
The boys jumped in and took on this challenge. In the end Oude Molen’s bridge created quite a talk between the judges due to its elegant and complex design. The boys’ bridge might not have carried the most weight (taken by Swartland @ 175 kgs) but our bridge was most definitely one of the favorites between the 30 teams that took part of the competition, thus voted the “Peoples Choice Award”.
Thank you Tyler, Imaad and Patric for making me (your teacher) and the school absolutely and truly proud.
